Sliver Lecture. University of Applied Arts, Vienna.
28 May 2009 | 7pm | Lichthof 2
The potential of the flat surface as a means to create form and structure is an intriguing prospect. Modelling with a sheet of paper through hands-on manipulation reveals shapes and volumes, which otherwise remain hidden within the flat plane. The action of folding is at once simple and complex- an intuitive action leading to the formation of a complex geometric form. A tactile approach to material investigation is essential in understanding the behaviour of
the surface, the means by which it can be formed, and applied in a diverse range of artistic practices.---------------------------
