Peel Gallery takes the work of nine international and national artists and designers, who transform paper into functional objects and works of art. BECA Gallery , New Orelans, will present '12 x 12 x 122', an experimental, gallery packed group exhibition of over 400 works opening on June 6, 2009. The show is composed of works on canvas sized 12x12 inches, spanning all mediums, submitted by 122 artists from around the world. Richard has submitted two pieces, embracing the submission contraints in the creation of three-dimensional canvas surfaces.

The potential of the flat surface as a means to create form and structure is an intriguing prospect. Modelling with a sheet of paper through hands-on manipulation reveals shapes and volumes, which otherwise remain hidden within the flat plane. The action of folding is at once simple and complex- an intuitive action leading to the formation of a complex geometric form. A tactile approach to material investigation is essential in understanding the behaviour of
the surface, the means by which it can be formed, and applied in a diverse range of artistic practices.
