Motion Forms is a body of curved, pleated sculptures, which were hand-folded in watercolour paper through the method of wet folding.

The sculptures were generated through hands-on experimentation, which began with the folding of a single sheet of A4 paper along several curved score-lines into a shell-like form. From this basis, the constraints of the material when subjected to this manipulation could be observed, informing the elaboration of the technique to produce a multitude of unique folded sculptures. Through the repetition of a curved line, folding patterns are drawn by using a template, the resulting forms from which were inherently unpredictable. Thus, the three-dimensional outcome is not predetermined- a new form is discovered with each unique folding pattern- and several variations of form can in fact be produced from a single pattern through the manipulation of the paper when wet-folding.
