Origami Bowl For Wentworhs of Sheffield Menu Next

In collaboration with Wentworth of Sheffield (England), sculptural forms developed during a study of paper folding were selected for translation into sheet pewter to create a bowl. An Autocad drawing of the selected layout was used to allow a CNC router to create a v-shaped groove in a disc of sheet pewter, similar to the scoring of paper. The sheet was then hand-folded to create the bowl prototype. This project demonstrates how computer-aided technology and hand-craft techniques can be combined, and indeed complement each other throughout the design and manufacturing process.
